The Indiana State Medical Association

Dr. Joseph Galdun, a hospitalist with nearly two decades of experience, joined the Fayette Regional Health System as the medical director of hospital medicine in late 2017. Dr. Joseph Galdun, a graduate of the Indiana University School of Medicine, is a member of the professional organization the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA).

The ISMA brings medical practitioners from across Indiana together to improve patient experience through the delivery of high-quality care. Founded in 1849, the organization has established nine committees focusing on various public health and industry issues, as well as three societies, one each in support of medical students, residents, and physicians at the early stage of their career.

To facilitate the professional development of Indiana medical providers, the ISMA coordinates educational seminars and workshops and accredits continuing medical education programs. The organization also advocates for policy and legislation that improves patient welfare.

With more than 8,200 members who have access to various benefits such as discounts on prescriptions, office supplies, and insurance, the ISMA has been awarding scholarships to medical students for over 30 years.
